Sizes and specification
What bearing bar sizes do you manufacture?
Bearing bars are available in 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2″ and 2-1/2″ heights, in 0.125″ and 0.187″ thicknesses. Heavy-duty manual-weld grating is made up to 4″ bearing bar. All grating is manufactured to NAAMM MBG 531-00 from raw material conforming to ASTM A36 / ASTM A-1011.
What bar spacing is standard?
19-W-4 is our standard spacing and covers most walkway, platform and mezzanine work. 19-W-2, with twice the bar density, is available where a smaller opening or a higher load is required.
What panel sizes do you stock?
Standard panels are 36″ × 240″, 36″ × 288″ and 24″ × 240″. Other sizes are made to order — send us the dimensions and we will quote the panel and the cutting.
Can I get serrated grating?
Yes. Bearing bars are available with a serrated or a smooth surface. Serrated is the usual choice where the walking surface may be wet, oily or icy.
Stair treads
What sizes are the stair treads?
Standard tread lengths are 2′-10″, 4′-2″ and 5′-3″, and we make special sizes on request. The two treads in our catalog are 36″ × 12″ (item 0-300) and 42″ × 12″ (item 0-310), both in 1-1/4″ 19-W-4.
Do treads come with carrier plates?
Yes. Carrier plates are most commonly 2-1/2″ and 3″, and are supplied with slots and holes so they bolt straight to your stringers. Other sizes are available on request.
What anti-slip nosing is available?
Checkered plate and ferro-grip pyramid nosings are both available. Tell us the traffic and the environment and we will recommend one.
Finishes and materials
What finishes can I have?
Bare, hot-dip galvanized or painted. Hot-dip galvanizing is the usual specification for anything outdoors or in a wash-down area, and is what our stock panels carry.
Do you supply stainless steel?
Yes — 316 grade stainless for corrosive and marine environments, including our 316 stainless G clip fasteners and the F-10 grating clip. Architectural grilles are also available in 304 stainless solid round bar.
What are G clips and which one do I need?
G clips fasten grating to the supporting steel without welding or drilling the frame. They are sized to the bearing bar height: 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ and 2″, in galvanized carbon steel or 316 stainless. Quote the bearing bar height and we will send the matching clip.
Architectural grilles
What grille patterns do you make?
Four: A100A diamond, B200B seashell, C300C O-ring and D400D diamond storefront and window pattern. All are handcrafted in solid round bar with center interconnected U-clip collars, precision-pressed and tag-welded at every joining point.
What bar sizes are the grilles?
Solid steel round bar in 1/4″ or 5/16″ outside diameter, and up to 1/2″ on the D400D window pattern. Solid 304 stainless steel round bar is available in 1/4″ OD.

How do I get a price?

Can I order from this website?
No — this site is a catalog, not a shop. Grating is priced by size, quantity, finish and freight, so every order is quoted and invoiced. Card payments are taken in person at our Staten Island location when you collect or place your order.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Yes. We manufacture, export worldwide and distribute domestically, with branches covering Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia. Tell us the destination and we will quote the freight with the goods.
Can you cut and fabricate to my drawings?
Yes. We cut, band and serrate to your layout, and fabricate stair treads, platforms, trench covers and architectural metalwork to your measurements. Send the drawing with your inquiry.
